2015 January CQJP Block

The 2015 Crazy Quilt Journal Project has begun and the block I chose to make is so appropriate to have finished in the midst of a New England Blizzard, turned NorEaster, with snow totals being measured in feet across the southern part of the state where I live.  The storm is expected to continue to drop an additional inch of light fluffy snow each hour into tomorrow.

January Snowflakes ~ 2015 CQJP  Block

This crazy quilt block is done in all blues on a cotton foundation.   The stitching, lace and other embellishments are done in all white.  Looking forward to starting my February block.

May God bless you throughout the New Year.

2015 FMQC January Pillow

Quilt Shop Gal is providing us in the new year another Free Motion Quilt Challenge each month.

  January Challenge

Pillow for my Granddaughter when she sleeps over

This is my January Challenge, a free motion quilted heart.  I made a little pillow for my granddaughter to have when she sleeps over.  I used a pencil to draw one heart shape in the middle of the rectangle, then freehanded all the stitching.    With a Blizzard happening outside for a couple days, if power remains on, I may be able to make some very cute pillowcases.

Thanks for the challenge Quilt Shop Gal.

Sunrise ~ Jinny Beyer BOM

Watching the Craftsy BOM class with Jinny Beyer in the wee hours of the morning.  Jinny was teaching color theory and used a sunset/sunrise as an example, and wouldn't you know when I got up and looked out the window later this morning there we had this beautiful sunrise I just had to grab a camera and take a photo.   One point Jinny made was if you include a bush or a tree in the photo it will cause the colors to become brighter still against a dark object otherwise they might become flat.  Well when I snapped this photo I was sure to include the little evergreen in the corner!   Great teacher Jinny Beyer, and great class ~ thanks Craftsy.  My kit is on order and looking forward to a year with Jinny Beyer :)
